Momentum

If your business has a momentum stall or a fall, as hard as this is to hear…YOU own it.

Here’s what I mean…

As the business owner/leader, you are the primary source of momentum (forward or backward), for your business/department.

There are 3 components of momentum for an organization:

  • Attitude of the leader – every leader must recognize and accept responsibility for the #momentum of the organization
  • Atmosphere of the organization – High belief in people, expectancy of good things, vision worth following
  • Accomplishments of the people – Successive wins you can quantify, ways to celebrate wins specific to the vision, remove the fear of failure – we must be able to try new things

There are 4 kinds of people when it comes to momentum:

  • Momentum breakers – they stop momentum with negativity
  • Momentum takers – they sap momentum with self-centered behavior
  • Momentum fakers – they derail momentum with their motives
  • Momentum makers – they create excitement and enthusiasm for others around the vision

A leader must recognize where people fit in their organization or department/team and either find a way to engage with people to make them momentum makers or find a way to remove the negative influence.

This topic would be a day well spent for your leadership team.
